Wong Tak Chiu
Tak Chiu Wong is a graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the CRR de Cergy-Pontoise, France. His teachers include Jennifer To, Michael Campbell. Jean-Yves Fourmeau and Jerome Laran. Tak Chiu has also participated in master-classes of Jean-Maria Londeix, Claude Delangle, Daniel Gauthier, Vincent David, Arno Bornkamp and Nobuya Sugawa.
Regarded as one of the most prominent saxophonists in Hong Kong, he has given numerous performances in Hong Kong as both a soloist and a member of various ensembles such as the Hong Kong Symphonic Winds and the Hong Kong Wind Orchestra. Since 2004, he has been performing regularly with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Winds Philharmonia, the Hong Kong Wind Orchestra and the Hong Kong Symphonic Winds. Tak Chiu has worked with famous conductors and composers such as Edo de Waart, Joe Hisaishi, David Wong and Michael Krajewski.
Tak Chiu is the Hong Kong representative in the Amigo Saxophone Quartet, which is an international group that has performed at the 15th World Saxophone Congress, Bangkok, Thailand. In 2010, the Amigo Saxophone Quartet gave a tour of Southeast Asia, premiering new works and performing standards of the saxophone repertoire.
