The Kang Chiao Saxophone Quartet was founded in September 2012, with its members consisting of students at the Kang Chiao International High School. Since their debut concert in June 2013, they have been holding their own annual concerts at Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra Concert Hall and KHS (Fuxing) Concert Hall. In Taiwan, they have also performed at charity performances in hospitals and communities, as well as art and culture festivals held by the government. They have also been invited to perform at Chang-Lien-Chang Saxophone Museum. Their amazing performances have gained themselves much popularity in Taiwan.
Members of the Kang Chiao Saxophone Quartet are students from Grades 7 to 12. All have a passion for playing the saxophone, and two of them have attended the Singapore Saxophone Symposium in 2014, having had masterclasses with the famous saxophonist Chien-Kwan Lin. These students have a strong understanding among themselves to expect high standards regarding the quality of their music. With a positive and enthusiastic attitude for playing, they have developed a focus in music that can be applied into everything else they do.
The Kang Chiao Saxophone Quartet believes that music always comes from the heart, and the key is to be able to communicate one’s feelings to the audience while performing. The true purpose of learning music is not to win comparisons or competitions, but to share with the audience the result of much hard work and pursuit for perfection. This is the spirit that the Kang Chiao Saxophone Quartet possesses.
