Nicholas Loh
Nicholas is no stranger to the local music scene in Singapore. A versatile musician, he has performed as a solo pianist, chamber musician, orchestral keyboardist and Baritone, collaborating with numerous groups both local and overseas, including EDQ, The Philharmonic Chamber Choir (TPCC), The Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO), Discovery Ensemble (Boston) and BYCE (Boston Young Composers Ensemble).
A recent Masters graduate in piano performance from the New England Conservatory of music (NEC), Nicholas specialised in contemporary piano repertoire under the guidance of Stephen Drury, a leading expert and champion of new music. He has also worked with other leading pianists in the field including Max Levinson, Corey Hamm and Nino Jvania. Prior to his studies at NEC, he graduated from the University of Birmingham, UK, with first class honours in Music followed by a 6-year stint as a General Education Officer, specialising in Music and English, at Chung Cheng High School (Main). Past notable teachers include Jap Boen Pin, Dennis Lee and Toh Chee Hung.
When not collaborating on standard classical fare, Nicholas is a new music enthusiast who believes that new music is an experience that connects the novel with the familiar, and strives to make new music an experience that can connect with audiences of all backgrounds.
